For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful.
I know that full well.
Can we just talk about these words for a minute?
There is so much encouragement packed into this chapter. If I had to sum it up what it was about, it would be “You know everything about me.” Maybe that doesn’t sound encouraging to you? Let’s look at it.
God Made You
He knows how we are made – physically, emotionally, socially, relationally… all the -allys – because He made us. He DESIGNED us. And not only designed us, but designed us each DIFFERENTLY. On purpose.
It says we are ‘knit together’ and ‘fearfully and wonderfully made.’ That’s complex. Do you fully understand yourself? If you do, you’re in a small minority. But we have direct access to the one who made us, so we can always just ask.
You Are Wonderful
His works are wonderful. YOU ARE his work. Therefore, you are wonderful.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Yes, they are wonderful. God made them. AND you are, too. Believe it.
Believe that you have lots to offer. Smiles, skills, help, love, compassion… What do you (or others) tell you is a weakness in you? Is it really? Or is it part of you that is just different from others? The world needs ALL of us.
Embrace Your Creator; Embrace Yourself
You are wonderful. Go BE who He created you to be. Find out who that is by spending time with Him. Ask Him about his plan for you. He would love nothing more than to have you living in it. And you will not find a better life than the one he planned for you. Make this world a better place by living out His design for you.
